Map your situation
Note the accounts you keep, who works with them and which tasks your bookkeeper handles. A simple invoicing workflow has different needs from inventory, multiple accounting entities or detailed access permissions. Check the provider's specific support and discuss tax requirements with your bookkeeper.
Try the complete process
Using fictional data, create a sales invoice, process a purchase receipt and match a payment. Then correct an error. Easy data entry matters, but a correction or missing bank connection can be just as important in daily work.
Involve your bookkeeper
Check which access is included and which files or reports your bookkeeper needs. Ask which parts of the work can take place inside the package and which remain outside it. An advertised feature is not necessarily included in every subscription.
Include an exit test
Export a small set of sample accounts and inspect what the files actually contain. Consider attachments and readable invoices as well as numerical data. Record the current price, transaction limits and any fees for additional accounting entities before deciding.
